SL Airport Expo Blog Spotlight: Tig Spijkers

Tig Spijkers, owner of Kinrara Airfield, has provided information about Kinara and what she likes to do in SL:

QUESTIONS RELATED TO YOUR SL AIRPORT:

1.  What inspired you to create your airport in Second Life?
I was offered to buy the island of Kinrara in 2009 to preserve the only transcontinental link between Nautilus and Corsica. It just made sense to place an airport for aviators traversing the continents and provide a stop over on their travels.

2.  Tell us about your airport, what were your aims and goals in Second Life, when you created it?
As mentioned above, Kinrara although now no longer the only gateway and bottle neck between the continents of Nautilus and Corsica, it still serves as a favorite rest spot for aviators exploring the Grid.

3.  Is your airport modeled or inspired after a real life airport?    If so which one?
No, but it was always my intention to keep it a realistic as possible in presenting a tropical island airfield.

4.  How long have you owned your airport?  is your airport opened to the general public?  Is a group required to rezz?  What are some activities or items that people can do at your airport?
I've owned Kinrara for a good 3 years now and it is of course open to the public, with build enabled on the whole island. As for activities I am the owner of Spijkers & Wingtips Aviation and we have a wide range of demo rezzers and free aircraft for the public to use.

QUESTIONS RELATED TO YOU:

1.  How long have you been in Second Life?
Since 2006

2.  What made you first join Second Life?
Saw it on telly.

3.   What are some of the strangest things you have experienced or seen in Second Life?
To many to list.

4.  Other than owning an airport in Second Life and being interested in aviation, what are some other things you like to do while you are in Second Life?
I am the Vice Commandant of the SL Coast Guard and enjoy the company of our friends in the SL Flying Tigers. I'm also an avid contents creator that has specialized in creating helicopters.
